Balthazar Scores with Shiraz
Congratulations to Anita Bowen and the team at Balthazar of the Barossa for picking up several awards for their 2003 Shiraz. The 2003 vintage is sealed under ProCork and is served at some of Australia’s finest restaurants including Vue de Monde in Melbourne and Neil Perry’s Rockpool inSydney and can be purchased from their website.

Bordeaux winery trialing ProCork
Bordeaux winery Chateau La Dauphine has begun trialling ProCork in its premium range. The chateau has agreed to bottle 150 bottles each of its two main  red wines under ProCork and store it for the next ten years. The ProCork team will return once a year to check the progress of the wine.

Eaglehawk Shines
Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Chardonnay has been one of ProCork’s most successful value wines, with rapid volume growth in UK supermarkets over the last three years and obviously receiving strong support from consumers.
The 2006 Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Chardonnay recently received a good review from UK Telegraph wine critic Jonathan Ray.

“Soft and supple with fresh melon fruit and hints of oak, this is great value Aussie Chardonnay,” Mr Ray wrote.

ProCork Available
ProCork is still available from Vinpac and a number of new agents are currently being appointed. Vinpac has been the distributor for ProCork in Australia and New Zealand for a number of years. As part of recent corporate reorganisation within Foster’s Group, Vinpac has been sold and ProCork will remain available from a number of independent sources including Vinpac and Winemaking Supplies and Services.

WineTech 2007
The ProCork team is gearing up for WineTech 2007with plans for an exciting, interactive stand with plenty of opportunity to learn more about our products.

Visitors will have the chance to taste some of the award winning wines sealed under ProCork, as well as being able to compare wines sealed under other closures to give a full understanding of ProCork’s benefits.

Ambassador visits ProCork
The Australian Ambassador to Portugal, Luke Williams, recently visited ProCork's new factory near Porto and was impressed by what he saw.

"It is great to see an Australian company working with Portugal in the search for environmentally friendly solutions," Mr Williams said.

With the completion of its new plant, ProCork is already winning a number of supply contracts back from plastic cork in Italy. Plastic cork has been identified as a major threat to the two million hectares of oak forests around the Mediterranean.

The Great Australian Red
ProCork has accepted an invitation to sponsor the Great Australian Red – a competition created by Tyson Stelzer and Matthew Jukes to highlight the truly Australian blend: cabernet sauvignon and shiraz.

ProCork founder Gregor Christie said it was a great opportunity to support the industry. “ProCork is an Australian product that suits aged reds in particular so the association is ideal for us,” he said.

‘Barrels of Laughs’ at the 2007 Barossa Vintage Festival
Perfect weather, grape stomping, a jazz band, gourmet food and wines from the Thorn-Clarke range all combined to make ‘Barrels of Laughs 2007’ a highly enjoyable event. 

People came from all over Australia to help us make the inaugural ‘Thorn-Clarke – Put Your Foot Down Shiraz Cabernet Blend’.  This batch will be fermented, oaked, and bottled and all of the participants will be sent a bottle to enjoy or treasure.  A big thank you to all of you who came out to partake and to those that didn’t we will be doing it all again in two years time at ‘Barrels of Laughs 2009’. 

Award winning Thorn Clarke Barossa Cuvee (Export labelled Quartage) in both the 2004 and 2005 vintage is bottled under ProCork.
